The Plaza Resort is surrounded by over 12 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. It boasts a private marina, and is lined by a beautiful stretch of beach, and located just half a mile from the airport and 2 miles from downtown.
There's no shortage of activities, with a fully equipped PADI 5-star Dive Centre (Toucan Diving), tennis courts, fitness room, car rentals, a breathtaking seaside pool and private white sand beach.
The grounds of the Plaza Resort Bonaire are a travel destination in themselves, complete with a captivating man-made lagoon, waterfall and more than 300,000 tropical trees and flowering plants.
There's also a terrific gift shop, beauty center, and an elegant boutique.

Hotel Accommodation
All of the Bonaire villas and suites are spacious and comfortable, and feature air conditioning, a large bathroom and separate toilet. Moreover, all the suites have a balcony or patio, as well as a mini-refrigerator and an electric kettle.

Our Bonaire dive resort Standard Suites have air conditioning and are located close to the diving school, swimming pool and beach. Rooms on the ground floor include a patio and those on the first floor have a balcony.

For all the Bonaire hotel accommodations: no washing machine or dryer is included! Instead, you can leave your laundry at the reception desk to be returned to you the next day, laundered, pressed and folded. This service is provided for an additional fee.

All of the rooms are designated as NON SMOKING rooms. Guests are kindly requested to refrain from smoking in the rooms. Smoking on the porch or balcony is permitted at our Bonaire dive resort as long as the guest uses the ash trays provided.

At the Banana Tree restaurant, you can enjoy a pleasant and healthy start to your day!

Every morning from 6.30am until 11.00am, a lavish breakfast buffet awaits you with freshly baked breads, fresh juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, egg dishes, meats and cheeses, sweet sandwich fillings, coffee, tea, cappuccino and much, much more.

Lunch and dinner at the Banana Tree!
The open-air brassiere the Banana Tree - next to the swimming pool and with a lovely ocean view - is also the place for lunch and dinner, you can enjoy local, Caribbean cuisine, but also more well known, international dishes, such as pizza, lasagna, wraps and fish and meat dishes.


Dinner at the Tipsy Seagull
Dine with your feet in the sand, while enjoying a glass of good wine and with the sound of the softly rolling waves in the background. At the Tipsy Seagull, you will feel like a god on Bonaire! At the Tipsy Seagull, you eat by candlelight and with a view of the ocean, dining on freshly caught fish, brought back just hours before from the port of Bonaire. Tuna, lobster, shellfish: we have it all, as long as it is fresh and is of top quality. But, those who enjoy other non-native types of fish or a tender piece of meat can also find what they are looking for at the Tipsy Seagull. Coconut Crash Beach Bar

Located on the beach of Plaza Resort Bonaire is one of the island's most popular bars, the Coconut Crash Beach Bar. This bar is open 7 days per week from 11 AM until late. Start your day on the beach with a freshly brewed coffee or order a tasteful sandwich during lunch time. Of course we serve ice cold beers and cocktails. Meet fellow tourists and islanders during the Happy Hours, twice a day, between 5 and 6 PM and between 9 and 10 PM!

Theme nights
Every Monday night is Lobster Night at the Tipsy Seagull restaurant, featuring delicious lobster dishes, served with suitable wines!


Salsa Night at the Banana Tree. Every Friday night, you can enjoy a delightful á la carte menu, and then - if you feel up to it - shake your hips during the dance classes, led by Bonaire's best dance instructors.

BBQ on the beach. Every Tuesday night features an elaborate barbecue on the beach, with live music provided by a steel band.

Hotel Activities and Entertainment
Snorkelling
With a snorkelling mask and - if you would like - a pair of flippers, you can fully enjoy all the underwater natural beauty. Hotel offers the following options: snorkelling lessons, snorkel boat tours, guided snorkelling excursions, night snorkelling and sail-snorkelling tours. What is not widely known is that Bonaire features a beautiful, extensive network of caves, which include many excellent snorkelling spots. Snorkelling guides will lead you to the most beautiful spots, where you can snorkel among the stalagmites and stalactites in the caves.


Kayaking
Kayaking is a sport that is on the rise (in a manner of speaking) and is a sport that more and more people are taking up. The hotel offer guided excursions through the Mangrove forests and on Lac Bay. Of course, you can also rent a kayak and explore the coastline yourself.


Sailing
See the other side of Bonaire and hire a sailboat - with or without a captain - and explore Bonaire's exclusive beaches and romantic coves.


Mountain biking
Discover the island by bicycle and enjoy the breathtaking vistas, and the wide array of flora and fauna. The many bicycle routes are marked with orange stones and lead you past places of interest and other sites that are inaccessible by car.


Kite and windsurfing
The tropical trade winds generally blow from east to west. On the east coast of Bonaire is Lac, a bay closed off from the ocean by a coral reef lying in knee-deep water. The bay is an ideal windsurfing location. The fast-growing group of kitesurfers can get their adrenaline pumping on the island's west coast, near "Atlantis": a former diving location at the southern end of the island.


Both Lac and Atlantis are a mere fifteen-minute drive from the resort.

Tennis, volleyball, swimming, fitness
We offer four tennis courts that are open day and night, a health club and an open-air swimming pool with a whirlpool.


The tennis pro can also provide tennis lessons for an additional fee.

The use of the health club is free for all resort guests. Upon request, a personal trainer can also instruct you for an additional fee.


There is also a court set up for beach volleyball. Members of the hotel team regularly take on teams of made up of resort guests.

Diving Information
Divers of all skill levels - from absolute beginners to highly advanced, from children to adult - will feel right at home at Toucan Diving: a five-star PADI diving centre at the Plaza Resort Bonaire. Courses are also offered from SDI, SSI and the Dutch diving association WOSD. Experienced divers who want to expand their diving skills can also take a TDI Tec course. Guests with handicaps who are interested in diving can also earn their full certification here. Our PADI-certified instructors meet the diving industry's highest standards with regard to training, safety and service.

Toucan Diving has the swimming pool at its disposal for confined water lessons and the knowledge development sessions are offered in an air-conditioned classroom. Classes are given in Dutch or in English.

PADI Open Water Diver

The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the world's most popular dive programme and is intended for the novice diver who wants to learn the fundamentals of scuba diving. The course consists of knowledge development sessions and practical training exercises. The PADI Open Water Diver certification can be use worldwide as proof that an individual is capable of diving in a safe and responsible manner. A certified PADI Open Water diver can dive with a buddy, unsupervised, to a maximum depth of 18 m. The student begins in confined water and then puts what they have learned in the knowledge development sessions into practice in the magnificent open waters of Bonaire. The course fee includes equipment, materials, a logbook and a deluxe binder.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

This course is a continuation of the PADI Open Water Diver course, in which the student's diving skills are further developed and broadened and the student's dive experience is expanded with practical training exercises in the glistening waters around Bonaire.

Open Water Referral

Those who have successfully completed the knowledge development sessions and the confined-water exercises of the PADI Open Water Diver Course can complete the open-water portion of the certification in the waters around Bonaire.

Adventure Diver

Adventure Dives count as part of the Advanced Diver certification. You can earn a PADI Adventure Diver certification by selecting three of the dives from the following list and then conduct these dives with Toucan Diving.

With the Divemaster certification, you take the first step towards earning your instructor certification. As a Divemaster, you are qualified to repeat exercises and to act as a tour leader for students.

Assistant Instructor

A further extension of your Divemaster level and the first step towards instructor certification.

Scuba Diving (including equipment and materials)

If you are not certain if scuba diving is for you, you can take an introductory dive in the Scuba Diving course. Under the supervision of a PADI instructor, you learn the fundamentals of scuba diving in a sheltered environment, such as the swimming pool.

Scuba Review

Scuba Review is for those who have tried diving before, but who would like to have a refresher to sharpen their skills. Before making an open-water dive, you will review safety information under the instruction of a certified PADI instructor. You then participate in a swimming pool session with a PADI instructor, during which you practice the fundamentals of diving techniques, buoyancy techniques and breathing techniques. Then there is the option for an open water dive under the supervision of an instructor, during which you will rediscover the beauty of the underwater world.
